Strip Down and Preparation

The strings had been holding everything loosely in place. Once they were taken off, it all fell apart!

The two faces of the break and back of the fingerboard are really contaminated with glue residue.

I also stripped down the headstock to limit any damage during the repair

I need some wood to let in as repair sections, which is a close match to the mahogany neck. Grubbing around the workshop, I found a piece of leftover door cill, which I think is sapele (a type of mahogany). This is strong, with a nice straight and close grain and is a close enough match in shade for my purposes. It will also give me a chance to try out my bandsaw for the first time - how excited am I?!
